Produce of 33 Hours, Code Grey, Golden Fleece, Dear Diary, and Unblissful, Oby Olebara Uzokwu (Obylicious Empire), has once again teamed up with movie director, Ike Nnaebue (Treasurewells Academy), to release a comedy flick, Dr. Mekam. It is slated for the cinema from March 16.
Nnaebue described the film as a timely comic movie that showcases Nigeria’s current political situation. He commended the cast and crew for a good job, saying working with them has been fun, interesting and rewarding.
He further urged youths to make proper use of social media platforms. He noted that they could start by using Youtube or Instagram platforms to showcase their talents and skills rather than complain of joblessness while still using expensive phones.
Uzokwu, on the other hand, said the film was shot in Nigeria, America and other places. She said she was able to manage the challenges it posed because she worked with professionals, had good family support and efficient cast and crew. With over 100 films in her belt, she stated that she has empowered a lot of young people through her film academy.
“I am very open to assist more in areas of acting and film production and we hope to have an online TV among others,” she said.
Dr. Mekam is an intriguing story about a Nigerian-American-trained doctor, Mitchel Mekam, who returns to his fatherland after many years of sojourning in the U.S. to make a difference in the politics of his state.
He discovers that politics is not played fairly as it is done in developed societies.
His refusal to part with money, gifts and bow to the powers-that-be costs him the party’s primary election. He loses to his opponent, who is willing to play the dirty game, one who understands the language of the people.
