A product of a three-week refresher speech course in Leeds (North England) in 1997, sponsored by the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds, Clarion began acting as a keenly interested teenager in 1979, having played Lady Macbeth in William Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ, both school plays while at QRC. The star of Valentino, Abuja Connection, Test of Manhood, Out of Hand, Take me to Jesus, Another New Day, Wild Dog, Ladies World and Best of the Game became a semi-professional actor with the University of Ibadan (UI) Performing Company and also joined Tunji Oyelana’s band, The Kenneries, as a back-up vocalist. Clarion left the UI Performing Company in 1980 to further her professional training at the OAU and joined the acting turf as a professional actor after the ‘sound training’ she received in Ife. Her first major work experience on screen was a lead act in Lola Fani- Kayode’s soap opera, Mirror In the Sun. The star of Deep Love, World of Riches, Birth Mark, Lagidigba, Gold Diggers and Selfish Desires rode on the back of that television soap to walk into the consciousness of her fans. A deeply talented actor, recipient of the Ife Theatre Legacy-Distinguished Alumnus and AFRO HOLLYWOOD Awards, Clarion is without a doubt, one of the distinguished actors in the Nigerian film and theatre renaissance and one of the continents biggest female movie stars.
